The Tree in the Forest

Image

He never existed

Except in another’s

perception

There is no existence

Beyond the imaginings

Of another

We are alone

Like the tree

In the forest

Which only exists

When seen by another

Whether or not they

Care matters not

Just a fragment

Of fleeting percept

Making no special mark

Upon the earth

Just dust that crumbles

And is forgotten

Within a generation

No longer mourned

And so it is

Accept it

Do not strive

To overturn

Or resist

Just surrender

To your fate

To oblivion.
