Can living alone ever be joyous?

Answer by Anthony Sargeant:

Never mind "alone" – Can living be joyous?
(But what is joyous ?)
Like all animal species our only purpose is to replicate the gene and then nurture the repository of that gene as long as necessary to ensure its survival.
After that we are just waiting to return to dust – like other animal species.

The X-ray diffraction photograph (taken by Dr Rosalind Franklin's PhD student Ray Gosling at King's College, University of London) which was without her knowledge and certainly not her approval given to Crick and Watson – read the history of DNA. Neither Crick nor Watson nor Perutz come out of it well.

Can living alone ever be joyous?
